SCULLING.
London, May 15
Barry has informed Sullivan that he would meet Fogwell and was then willing to arrange a match with Arnst.
Sullivan pointed out that Fogwell’s articles are still unsigned, and it is therefore open to Barry to arrange to row Arnst first. Commenting on what it calls “Fogwell’s puzzling telegram” of May x 6, to the effect that Fogwell must race in September before Barry meets Arnst, the Sportsman states that Barry quite accepts Fogwell’s right to the first race. Sydney, May 18.
Arnst has received a cable from Sullivan stating that Arnst’s terms to row Barry are acceptable provided the race is rowed in December.
Sullivan asks that the FogwellBarry match be cancelled.
This is unlikely, as Arnst states that if he defeats Pearce, and Barry beats Fogwell, he will go straight to England, Harry Floyd and Jack Arnst accompany Fogwell. Barry is allowing Fogwell only for expenses.
