CATHOLIC SOCIAL.
Another of the series ot socials, under the auspices ot the local Catholic Church, for the purpose of liquidating the debt on the presbytery, was held in the Masonic Hall last night and was attended by a very large gathering. From a social point of view it was even more enjoyable than any of its predecessors. The floor space was almost inadequate for dancing, and necessitated careful pilotage. The dance music was supplied by Messrs Berthold (piano,), Read (basso), J. Golder (cornet), and C. Berthold (violin). Dr Adams and Mr Dudson carried out the duties of M.’sC. in their usual capable manner. Dance extras were played by Mrs Boyes, Miss Eeniban, Messrs F. C. and C. Berthold. Vocal items were rendered by Mrs Boyes, Miss King, Messrs Richards, Bullard, Hornblow, Redman, Jenks, Knewstub, Hooker, Lenihan and Golder. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Boyes, Misses Jenks, Lenihan, and Mr F. C. Berthold. The lady members of the congregation supplied refreshments. The committee and their indefatigable secretary, Mr J. Golder, are to be congratulated upon the success of their efforts. The next social will be held in about a mouth’s time.
