FOOTBALL.
The Horowhenua Union’s senior competition was commenced on Saturday and the two games played were too one-sided to be interesting to spectators. Levin - Wanderers, on the Levin ground, soundly drubbed Tainui, the score at call of time being 27 to 6. Shannon journeyed to Manakau and suffered defeat at the hands ot Hui Mai by 21 points to nil. Kasther, of the Levin-Wanderers team, said to be the lightest forward playing senior football in the Horowhenua Union’s competition, had the misfortune to break his collar bone on Saturday. The newly formed Foxtou Club’s senior and junior teams will be seen'in action next Saturday. The seniors will journey to Levin and the juniors will play on the racecourse. #
The team to represent Foxtou seniors in their first game under the Horowhenua Union will be selected from the following;— Osboldstone, Furrie, Rore, Dunn, Redgrave, Broughton, Reihaua, Royal, A. Cook, Reid, Bovve, W. Hooker, Millar, Haeana, Cummerfield, F. Hooker, F. Robinson, W. Cook, Matthew, Raikes and Stevenson. Any players unable to take part are requested to notify the secretary at once.
A practice will be held on Wednesday evening. The players will meet at Mr Ball’s billiard room at 7.30 o’clock. The juniors are also requested to roll up to this practice to enable the selectiou committee to pick their teams. On Saturday the Foxtou seniors have been drawn to meet Hui Mai at Devin, referee MrW. R. Burge. The locar junior team will be pitted against Weraroa on the Foxtou racecourse- Mr T. Curtis will have charge of the whistle.
