SHANNON BRIDGE.

Reporting to Horowhenua County Council on Saturday the county engineer stated that in company with Mr Moran, inspecting officer of the Public Works Department, he bad visited Shannon bridge. He had not visited this particular place for two years, and he was astounded at the rate the river is encroaching on the land. In his mind it was only a question of a short time when the river would straighten its course and leave the bridge high and dry. He hoped the council would impress upon the Government the urgency of sending the best man hey had to inspect and report as soon as possible. It was decided to write to the Minister of Public Works on the matter.
