ALLEGED SACRILEGE.

THE OMAR AFFAIR. Constantinople, May 9. An excited debate took place in the Chamber of Deputies on the reports circulated in reference to the removal of treasure from the Mosque of Omar. L The Minister of the Interior stated that a former Grand Vizier had granted explorers the right to excavate two passages. Permission for a third attempt from the sanctuary of the Mosque of Omar had been refused. The explorers then corrupted the officials, and violated the sanctuary.

The baggage of a number of Englishmen was searched at Jaffa, but contained no proof of thefts. Captain Parker, interviewed, said all the antiquities found in Jerusalem were handed to the Turkish authorities.
