A MATCH ARRANGED

A cable was seut to London on Tuesday by Mr George Seifert asking, on behalf of W. Fogwell, if a match could be arranged between the latter and E. Barry, the champion sculler of England (says the Manawatu Standard). The suggestion was chat the match should be for ,£2OO aside, and to be rowed on the Thames in September next, Fogwell to be allowed an amount towards ex-, penses, win or lose, the “gate” to be equally divided. Yesterday a cable reply was received intimating Barry’s willingness to row under the terms mentioned.
