THE HOUNDSDITCH AFFRAY.
TRIAL AT OLD BAILEY. London, May 7. The trial of the four persons accused of being concerned in the burglary of a jeweller’s shop at Houndsdrtch in December last, the sequel to which was the killing of three police and the wounding of two others, was resumed at the Old Bailey before Mr Justice Grantham and a jury. The prisoners, Russian subjects, are :
Jacob Peters, aged twenty-four, tailor.
John Zelin or Rosen, aged twenty-six, barber. Zurka Dubof, aged twenty-four, painter. Nina Vassilleva, aged twentythree, cigarette-maker. The police admitted that Gardsteiu for Morouutzeff), the man who was shot it is supposed by one of his friends when the police appeared on the scene, on 19th November signed, in the name of Motirin, a receipt for paid in pursuance of a telegram received from Russia.
Counsel for fhe defence criticised the police for withholding this fact till now.
The Superintendent of Police replied that he had not considered the matter material.
