TROUBLE IN MEXICO.

Mexico City, May 4,

Two thousand rebels are threatening the capital, and famine conditions are prevailing. The country is more unsettled than ever. Independent bauds of rebels are pillaging. Twenty-five rebels were killed at Magdalena. Horrible atrocities are reported from Southern California. The rebels are in lull possession of Tecote, and are killing everyone caught. Already five have been shot and two burned. Two American miners were murdered in Sonora country.

THE PEACE CONFERENCE.

Mexico City, May 4,

Madero, leader of the Insurrectors, met Judge Carbajal, the Diaz Government’s peace envoy, near Juarez, aud informally arranged peace conference details. Madero will not participate in the conference, Dr. Gomez representing him.

Another attack ou Agua Prieta is expected. Douglas people are apprehensive that if peace is not reached probably a battle will be fought at Nogales, Sonora, where the Federals and Insurrectors are numerous.
