DROWNING FATALITY.
OFF PAR AFAR AUMU BEACH. A drowning fatality occurred in the open ocean off the Paraparaumu Beach on Sunday morning, the victim being Clarence Morrish, aged twenty-one, employed in the warehouse of Mackay, Logan, Caldwell and Co., of Wel-liugton. It appears that Morrish, who was staying with Mr Hyde, exGoverument poultry expert, in company with Mr Hyde’s son, aged sixteen, went out for a row in a small canvas boat at a little after 9 o’clock.
When half a mile or so from the shore, a wave struck the boat, which capsized. Morrish was drowned but young Hyde was rescued by his lather. This is the second death by drowning in the Morrish family within a few months. In the latter part of last year Mr William Morrish, twenty-eight years of age, while on a visit to Auckland, went out in a boat from the Cheltenham beach, and was never heard of again. The boat, however, was washed ashore at Narrow Neck, a mile or two from the beach, the following day. Later. The body of Clarence Morrish was found yesterday morning, washed up on the beach towards Waikanae. An inquest will be held at the morgue this afternoon.
