WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD. TO THE ELECTORS OF PALMERSTON NORTH, FOXTON & DISTRICT. Ladies & gentlemen.— On the day of the Municipal Elections you will be asked to v ae for two members of the Wellington Harbour Board. As Palmerston N. is assured of one member, it is thought that the other should be selected from the residents of the districts outside. Personally, I am satisfied there will be no desire on the part of any fairminded elector to confine both seats to the residents of Palmerston North. At a meeting of the representatives of Feilding Borough, Kiwitea, Manawatu, Pohaagina, Oroua and Kairanga Counties, held on 31st March, it was decided to support my candidature for the second seat, leaving the representation of Palmerston North and surrounding districts in the capable hands of Mr Cohen. I am therefore emboldened to solicit your votes on the polling day. It is hardly necessary for me to say that I have seen considerable service on local bodies in this district, and have had a long and extensive connection with business and financial affairs. As a large importer and considerable owner of town and country property, I am interested in preventing the infliction of burdensome wharfage charges or the imposition of rates on country lands to provide for the upkeep of Wellington Harbour, while, if elected, I shall strongly oppose extravagance or unnecessary borrowing. I am largely interested in the sheep-farming industry, and consequently may be depended on to see that the primary producers, who at present have no representative on the Board, shall have their interests carefully looked alter. Should you do me the honour to elect me, in conjunction with one of the Palmerston North candidates, 1 shall endeavour to do my duty as a representative of the whole district. I have the honour to remain, Your obedient servant, JOHN G. COBBE. Feilding, 10th April, 1911.

BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS. I ABIES & GENTLEMEN.— Having decided to be a candidate at the forthcoming municipal election, and having considerable interests in the borough and district, I hope to have the honour of your confidence, and, if elected, will strive to further the best interests' of the borough as a whole. I remain Yours Obediently, W. S. CARTER. WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION. I HAVE the honour to announce myself as a candidate for election as representative for Manawatu on the above Board. MAURICE COHEN.

The doctor said “Your system’s rum, But I’ll soon put you right!” “Your nose is red, you’re overfed And drunk! there’s nothing surer; There’s just one thing for you to take And that is ‘aqua-pura.’ Give this prescription to chemist Keen * And take three times a day.” Old Tom’s wits wandered like his feet, He lost it on the way ! To grocer Green instead he went, And asked for “ashwah-poora” The grocer puzzled: then understood — And gave him Suratura ! The days passed by, bright grew Tom’s eye! His nose is nearly normal! With spritely gait, his feet walk straight, His speech lacks nought informal. The doctor’s fee, Tom paid with glee. “Well Tom, how’s ‘aqua-f»ura ?’” "Oh Doc., it’s great, I’m pleased to state, When boiled with Suratura!
