RACING.
FEILDING MEETING. The weather at Feilding yesterday was fine, although somewhat cold, and there was consequently a very large attendance at the Feilding Jockey Club’s Easter meeting which commenced on their well-appointed course yesterday. The acceptances received by the Club were very satisfactory and as the scratching pen was not used to any great extent all xhe fields were good. The racing was most interesting throughout the day. Speculation was very brisk, no less a sum than ,£19,857 being put through the totalisator. The large amount put through was uo doubt due to a large extent to the well-backed horses scoring in the majority of the events —and consequently the money found its way into the pockets of a large number of people who re-invested it on the next race. Just here it might be mentioned that the totalisator accommodation was inadequate, large sums of money being shut out on almost every race. It is hoped that the officials will rectify this before next meeting. With the exception of this one thing, everything else was admirably managed, and reflects great credit on the officials. A special word of praise is due to Mr Edmund Goodbehere, the Club’s energetic secretary, for the very complete and courteous manner in which he carried out his duties. The starting was not so satisfactory as it might have been, and in one race in particular the despatch reminded one of the procession of Brown's cows —one after the other. The j udge’s decisions were promptly and correctly given. The following are the results: —
Waiata Hack, —Vibration 1, Birkline 2, Dervish 3. Time, imin 28 4-ssec.

NOTIXS. Three Foxton-owned horses were among the starters at Feilding yesterday but were not successful in getting away with much of the stake money, their record being a second and a third. Stevens, owned and trained by A- M. Wright, was made a red hot favourite for the Onepuhi Hack Welter, a third of the investments on the totalisator being on the big Nelson-Fatigue chestnut, who however, had to be content with third place. This race made Stevens third start in the new owner’s colours and on these showings Wright has reason to be quite satisfied with his bargain. A first, second and a third in three starts is not bad and proves that the horse can gallop some. “Toney” Messena’s colours were conspicuous for the first time for a long period in the Onepuhi Hack Welter yesterday, when Waitoto filled second place to Mescal. A win for the local owner-trainer would have been very well received Clatcncc O'Neill made his appearance in the saddle in both hurdle races yesterday but did not see the finish in either. In the big hurdles he rode Liouheart, trained by himself and owned by two local sports. The chestnut led his field for the first mile but after going another furlong or so it was apparent that his place would be amongst the “also started.” He failed to negotiate the fence at the back of the course and fell. His rider escaped unhurt and appeared again in Mr Northcott’s colours on Nightmare in the next race —the Hack Hurdles. After chasing the field for about a mile Nightmare went wrong and had to be pulled up. The Rover is suffering from a cold and consequently did not make the trip to Feilding yesterday. Winning jockeys at yesterday’s races were Jenkins and Monk 2 each, McConnen, W. Young, Batten and Meagher 1 each. TODAY’S RESULTS. Denbigh Stakes. —St. Toney 1, Clemora 2, Mon Ami 3.
