PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the Foxton district committee of the Presbyterian Church was held at Oroua Bridge yesterday forenoon. Present: Messrs Rev. Aitken (moderator), Gibbs (treasurer), Speirs and Horublow (Foxton), Wilton, H. Simpson, J. Tennant, and S. Macaulay (Oroua Bridge), M. Richardson (secretary), A. Matheson (Tiakitahuna), and Costall (Glen Oroua). The treasurer’s balance-sheet disclosed a small credit. A lengthy discussion took place on the financial position. It was pointed out that since each centre had been assessed for a certain amount the finances had been more buoyant. The question of arranging a working balance was left with Messrs Alex. Speirs and Gibbs. Other minor matters were disposed of, after which the delegates were hospitably entertained at luncheon by Mesdames G. Wilton, Macaulay and Miss Tennant in the hall. Mr Costall, in a happy speech, returned thanks to the ladies for their hospitality.
