CORRESPONDENCE.

Sik, —With your permission I would like to insert a few lines in your paper, re keeping pigs in borough. When 1 reached home last night I found a note left by the nuisance inspector which says: “Mr Nye, remove your pig in seven days or proceedings will be taken.” Now, Sir, I have lived in Foxton over 20 years and kept pigs on and off during that time, and have never had any complaint from neighbours or anyone else. If I was living in Main Street and kept the pig alongside the footpath. the pig inspector would be doing his duty. But I am living about a quarter of a mile from Main Street and 70 yards back from Park Street, and over 70 yards from neighbours, and yet he says I must remove my pig. What for ? Does Mr Martin know what for ? Only because the law says so ! Now the by-laws of Foxton were taken from the Wellington City by-laws and are therefore not suitable for Foxton as there is a little difference between the size of the two places. Now, Sir, as the weather is too hot to make bacon of ray pig, it is going to remain in the sty until the weather is cool enough to kill it. There is a reason in all things and I believe in servants doing their duty, but I also believe in servants using a little common sense with it. Thanking you for the valuable space taken. —I am, etc., William Nvk. Park Street.
