TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.
At Monday night’s Council meeting the Town Clerk’s report was read and adopted and is as follows ; “There is very little to report for the past month, the men having been mainly engaged in patching holes in roads, clearing water tables, etc. The holes in Main Street footpath caused by telegraph linesmen have now been repaired and reasphalted, the cost of same to be refunded by Postal Department (,£3 !4 S 6d). As there was no metal in yard I arranged with Cr Coley, who acted on behalf of School Committee, to take away gravel from old school site, about 20 yards and give in exchange some of the limestone now lying in borough yard, and I trust the Council will endorse my action in this matter. The gravel from the school ground has been placed where most needed on roads close to the school. I expect the first of the road metal to come down next week, when a start will be made with patching the holes on Union Street and Moutoa Road.”
