WANGANUI PRESBYTERIAN MISSION.
Mr and Mrs Jas. Gumming, who have been engaged by the Wanganui Presbytery for six mouths’ evangelistic work within its bounds, have just concluded a fortnight’s mission at Maugaweka. The Maugaweka Settler, in writing on the mission, says: — “ Our Presbyterian friends and the town in general are to be congratulated on the suet ess that has f attended the 12 days’ mission, [ which will conclude at the church on Friday night. The Rev Jas. Cummiug’s addresses have been listened to with deep interest, and have been productive of much good.” The Rev J. Chisholm, and all the elders, in publicly thaukiug Mr Gumming for his good work, testified to the power and excellence of the addresses. Mr Gumming is thoroughly Pres
byterian, and exhibits a certain reserve in not forcing decisions, and in avoiding a too public parade of his hearers’ beliefs. Results are gathered in all the same, a£ the missiouer makes good use of the inquiry room. Mr Gumming is now at Taihape. Mr and Mrs J. Gumming begin a fortnight’s mission in the local Presbyterian Church, commencing on Sunday, 19th inst.
