MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
At the Manawatu County Council’s meeting on Monday, the tram manager reported that the credit balance for the mouth was xos rod. The chief items of traffic were; Minerals 110 J tons, merchandise 163 tons, grass seed 308 tons, timber 146,100 feet, wool 432 bales, metal 270 yards, horses 35, sheep 24 trucks. The special trains run in connection with the races at Foxtou and Bulls were well patronised, the total fares for the mouth being 3s lod. The total earnings of the tram for the mouth were ,£414 14s id. The expenses were ; Wages metal £2 ss, coal ,£34 4s 2d, oil £5 13 s -|d, repairs £7 xßs gd, truck and sheet hire £63 2s. The Overseer reported as under : —Awahou Riding—The usual repairs have been effected in this riding, such as filling in holes on the Karikari road and carting metal to patch up weak places on the Foxtou - Shannon road. A large sand hill has been fenced in on the Foxtou-Saudon road to prevent the sand drifting on to the metal. Mr C. Martin has commenced his metalling contract on No. 2 line. On the motion of Crs. Barber and Hunt, it was agreed to make a contribution of towards the erection of a stop bank being erected by the Moutoa Drainage Board, to be charged to the Awahou riding and Whirokino division. Mr R. Sexton’s tender at 12s t>d per yard was accepted for the construction of drain at Taikorca,
