PAHIATUA MEETING. The above Club’s annual meeting was brought to a conclusion in splendid weather on Thursday. There was again a large attendance and the racing on the whole was of an interesting nature. The sum of £7336 found its way through the totalisator, as against £3124 for the corresponding day ot last year, making a total for the meeting of ,£14,401, compared with £6129 for the 1910 me: ling. GISBORNE MEETING

The Gisborne Racing Club’s summer meeting opened on Thursday in beautiful weather. The attendance was large and some interesting racing was witnessed. The totalisator receipts were ,£6675 as against ,£4362 at their last meeting. Appended are the results :

The Gisborne Racing Club brought their annual meeting to a close in fine weather yesterday. The attendance was large and some close finishes were witnessed. The sum of £6631 was put through the totalisator, making ,£13,296 for the two days, an excess of ,£'4662 over last year’s total. Results:—

The Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting was opened on Thursday in glorious weather. The attendance was large and the racing generally was interesting. The totalisator investments showed a marked increase, being ,£7867 as against ,£3298 of last year. Results:—

The Newmarket Handicap will be decided on March 4th, and the Australian Cup on March 7th. At the New Year races at Ngunguru, in the Far North, a horse named Povvelka and a mare named Fe Neve participated. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s meeting, and the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting are being brought to a close to-day.

The Masterton Racing Club will hold a meeting on March 23rd and 24th, when ,£lllO will be given in stakes. The Takapuna Jockey Club was the first to license the bookmakers, and the last to have the pencillers at any meeting in the Dominion. Mr James Coombe has resigned the position of starter tor the Wanganui Jockey Club, and on Thursday Mr C. O’Connor was appointed in his stead. The Hobart Cup run at Launceston on Wednesday resulted : Loyal Blue 1, Drumreagh 2, Iliad 3. The New Zealand bred mare, Crucinella did not start. The Auckland-bred Apologue’s first start in India resulted in a win. It is said that he was only halt fit, and that it is virtually impossible to train him. In our last issue we stated that Mr A. Jackson’s b.h. The Lark had broken his leg, but it appears that the report is not correct. He very badly injured a leg above the fetlock, and as a result it will be many a long day before he sees the track again.
