BOER WAR AFTERMATH.
London, Feb. 1. Fldmondson, formerly SergeantMajor in the Middlesex Yeomanry, is suing Leopold Amery, war correspondent, for libel. Amery, in an article in a Wolverhampton newspaper, accused Edmondson of cowardice in the Boer War, stating that a party of Yeomanry under plaintiff ran away. The War Office, on the ground of public policy, declined to produce documents.
Several witnesses testified that the party was cut off from the main body and that plaintiff acted bravely under fire and led his party to salety. Field-Marshal Ford Roberts gave evidence that after considering the circumstances he concluded that Kdmoudson misbehaved before the enemy by leaving the field, and reduced him in rank.
A member of the party deposed that the men would have rejoined •■he main body but for plaintiff, who ran away at the outset.
