FATAL ACCIDENT.

MR H. M. LYON KILLED. Wkujngton, January 25. A well-known Wellingtoniau, Horatio M. Lyon, aged 60, one of Wellington’s best-known citizens, had been attending races at Treutham, and left the course to return by an early train. He was crossing the line to reach the platform on the other side, and being short-sighted, didnot notice a train approaching. He was struck by it and practically cut to pieces. The body was only recovered by raising the carriages by use of jacks. It was then found to be horribly mutilated, showing that death must have been instantaneous.
