BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

Archdeacon Harper delivered an interesting address on the Bible in-schools movement at the Primitive Methodist Conference in Wellington. After discussion the following motion was passed by the conference ; —‘‘ That this conference, while declaring its emphatic and uncompromising opposition to any form of sectarian teaching in the State schools, refers the whole question of Bible instruction therein to the Public Questions Committee to draw up a report to be submitted to the ensuing district synods for their consideration,(and that a report on the matter be submitted to the next conference.” The Presbyterian attitude on the question is as follows : —The General Assembly met in Auckland in November last, when the following resolution was passed ; ‘‘ That a committee be appointed to prepare a report on the New South Wales system of religious instruction in public schools, and send down that report tor the consideration of presbyteries and sessions within six months, the report to be presented to next assembly, which meets at Dunedin in November next.”
