THE NEW YEAR.
OLD MOORE’S CATALOGUE
The poor old earth will have a difficult time in surviving the gloomy prophecies of Old Moore for 1911. The year begins hopefully, for “trade will be good, money plentiful, and business on the Stock Exchange will revive.” In February there will he unrest in Russia, and from Madrid will come a cable message “ which will cause for a time a shudder throughout the laud.” The next month will bring startling news from Berlin, “when a most distinguished personage will be in imminent danger of losing his life.” During the same month the revolutionary party throughout Europe will be extremely active, and a far-reaching plot to destroy several most important people will be brought to light. Many arrests will be made, and more than one lady anarchist will be brought into contact with Scotland Yard. For the end of March a fearful air-ship accident is foretold, and in May an express train will come into collision with a goods train. Violent deaths of English men and women in China are programmed for June, and for July a peace conference between two great mouarchs. In August a strange and baffling disease will make its appearance, and many eminent men will trace its origin to sleeping sickness. 11 An outbreak 'X>f fearful fire in one of the Midland manufacturing districts ” is announced for September, to be followed next mouth by the holding up of a train by armed robbers. There will be a great fight, and passengers will be killed and wounded. In December will come the news of “the death of a wellknown worker associated with a world-wide religious community.” “ The year 1911,” the prophet declares, “ will be a year bringing in its train strikes, lawlessness, acts of violence, and defiance of the law. No matter what side of the House be in power, it will require a very mighty hand indeed to pulverise these dangerous fanatics with such strong Socialistic aspirations.”
