ILL-FATED SCHOOL.

TWICE BURNED DOWN. The Wanganui District High School, which was almost completely destroyed by fire about two and a-half years ago, was burned down again on Wednesday, only the walls of the new brick portion being left standing, while a clean sweep was made of the old timber-built wing. Painters had completed renovating only the same morning. The origin ot the fire is a mystery. There are no insurances on the building, the Department taking its own risk. The previous fire totally destroyed the old portion of the school, two of the newer rooms only being saved. A brick-built structure of large dimensions replaced the burned portion of the building, aud was completed 15 months ago. All the buildings are now destroyed.
