The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, January 12, 1911. NOTES AND COMMENTS.
The preservation ot the eyesight has rightly received the attention of the New York education authorities. In all books henceforth to be used in the public schools a circular will be inserted Instructing pupils how to care for their eyes. “Your safety and success in life depend on your eyes. Therefore take care of them. Always hold your head up when yon read. Hold your book fourteen inches from your face. Be sure that the light is clear and good. Never read with the sun shining directly on the book. Never f?ce the light in reading. Let the light come trom behind or over left shoulder. Rest your eyes by looking away from the hook every few moments; cleanse your eyes night and morning with pure water.” As good and true sight nowadays is a rare quality, these hints have a special value for those who are in the early stages of life’s journey ; nor should they be overlooked by older people.
