TERRIBLE MOTOR SMASH.
DOCTOR AND A CHILD KILLKD. Invercargill, Jan. n. A shocking motor car accident occurred at the Wallacetown crossing this morning. A car, driven by Dr Fullarton, ran into the Lumsden-luvercargill train. It was caught between two carriages and carried to the cattle stops, and was completely wrecked. Besides the doctor, the car contained his housekeeper, Nurse Martin, her sister, and two young nieces. One of the children, aged seven, was killed instantaneously. Dr Fullarton sustained a fractured skull and other serious injuries, which proved fatal half an hour later. Nurse Martin sustained injuries to her arms and forehead, and is under treatment in the hospital. Her sister and niece escaped uninjured, but are suffering from shock. High trees cut off the view of the railway, and make the crossing dangerous.
