MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

ANNUAL, RETURNS. During the year ended December 31st, tgio, the number of plaints issued at the local Magistrate’s Court was 173 and the cases tried 160. The amount sued for was 10s 3d of which 2s 2d was recovered. The amount of civil fees paid in stamps was £l2B ns 3d. The number of persons apprehended or summoned was 131, five of whom were dismissed for want of evidence, 16 dismissed on merits, 66 were fined, tour imprisoned, one released under the Probation Act, 25 orders were made and 14 were convicted and discharged. The amount of fines paid in stamps was 12s, and costs amounted to ,£13.35.
