THE MILITARY TOURNAMENT

PABMFRSTON GATMURING. The military tournament held to-day and Monday next at Palmerston North will he one of the finest contests of its kind ever held in New Zealand. There will be the usual military contests, and the entries this year in the mounted events are double those of last year. Teams are competing from as far north as Auckland and as far south as Dunedin, and added interest is given by the fact that the U Battery, Wellington, and the B Battery, Dunedin, will be competing against the No. t Tasmanian Battery. The troop of Tasmanian Field Artillery have arrived at Palmertson and were accorded a municipal reception in the Council Chambers. They were also entertained by the Mayor, who accompanied them over the beauty spots of the town and district.
