THE WARATAH ENQUIRY.
London, December 20. Mr F. Lund, one of the Bine Anchor line owners, who gave evidence yesterday, was crossexamined at the Waratah enquiry, and said that Captaih’llbery never seriously complained that the Waratah was less stable than the Geelong. Counsel: Then your letters to the builders were bluff in order to press forward a settlement of demurrage ? Witness replied they were not serious letters. The gravity of the disaster had greatly affected his father’s health. Five passengers gave evidence to the effect that they were alarmed at the vessel’s topheaviness and discussed the matter with the officers. Another passenger said he bad never sailed in a safer vessel. The hearing was adjourned till January 9th.
