CRICKET.
The first test match between South Africa and Australia was commenced at Sydney on Friday. The attendance numbered 20,000 and the weather was beautiful. Australia batted first and when the last wicket fell the score was 529. The principal scorers being : Hill 191, Bardsley 132, Gehrs 67, Armstrong 48, and Trumper 27. South Africa opened their innings very badly and have lost 7 wickets for 140.
