RACING.
TOTE PERMIT REFUSED. Auckland, Dec. 12, The Auckland Racing Club’s application for a tote permit for its races on December 26 has been refused. It was granted for the following day. No doubt the refusal to grant totalisator permits for _ Monday will cause some inconvenience to a number of clubs throughout the Dominion, but the object is to observe Monday as Christmas Day, and no permits are ever issued on that day. In future whenever Christmas Day falls on a Sunday it will be observed on Monday.
