SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary meeting of the above was held in the schoolhouse on Thursday evening. Present Messrs J. K. Hornblow (chairman), Betty, Bullard, Geo. Coley, Henderson, and Alex. Speirs. An apology was received from the Rev Mr Aitken. It was decided not to charge the Horticultural Society for the use of the old school in which the Spring Show was held in consideration of the Society giving the use oi its fixtures, etc., lor the forthcoming floral fete. The visitors reported that they had attended to certain minor matters. Mr Speirs reported that he would attend to the removal of the tank, etc., with as little delay as possible. The headmaster reported that the average attendance for the past mouth was 358.9, out of an average roll number of 395. The present roll number is 394. Twenty-two pupils presented themselves at the proficiency examination held on Monday last. The annual examination of the school has been completed, and the results on the whole are satisfactory. Reference was also made to the floral fete which the teachers have in hand. The report was received. Messrs Coley and Henderson were appointed visitors for the month. Other matters were dealt with, and the meeting rose.
