MANAWATU ROWING CLUB.
The annual general meeting of the Mauawatu Rowing Club was held in the Council Chamber last night. There was a most satisfactory attendance of members, and Mr Gabites was voted to the chair. The balance-sheet showed that the club had a credit balance at the Bank of New Zealand of £ls 9s Bd, and the statement of assets and liabilities showed assets amounting to £l6O 9s 3d and liabilities nil. The balancesheet was adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year ; President, Mr B. G. Gower ; vicepresidents, Dr Adams and Mr H, Witchell; captain, MrH. Gabites ; vice-captain, Mr J. W. Furrie ; secretary, Mr S. Wanklyn ; treasurer, Mr E. Healey; committee, Messrs A. H. Boyes, E. Walker and A, Cowie. The committee was instructed to revise the rules and submit same for adoption at a special general meeting. At the conclusion of the general meeting the committee met and decided to have the club’s present plant throughly overhauled and repaired, and also to purchase new oars. It was also decided to have the club registered under the Unclassified Societies’ Act. The question of purchasing additional pleasure boats was discussed at some length, and it was eventually decided to let the matter stand iu abeyance for the time, but there is every probability that at no very distant date the club’s plant will be added to considerably.
