WELLINGTON WOOL SALES

The second series ot wool sales at Wellington opened on Tuesday. There was a large attendance of buyers. The catalogue contained 8300 bales, and the feature of the opening was strong competition for the higher classes of wool, which in some cases were one farthing to a halfpenny better than at the previous sales in the beginning of this month. Yorkshire representatives provided strong competition for the medium qualities, which were about on a par with the previous sale. Continental wools were in keen demand also. For low grade wools, suitable for rugs and blankets, speculators competed freely at the opening, but selling prices proved beyond them.
