* Wanganui, Nov. 29. The Opera House was crowded to the doors to-uight ou the occasion of the mass meeting held to publicly initiate a movement for the establishment of a Y.M.C.A. Addresses were delivered by Dr. Henry, Mr Holmes (secretary of the Wellington Y.M.C.A.), and Mr W. H. George, of Wellington. The proceedings were most enthusiastic throughout, and at the conclusion it was unanimously resolved to approve and support the scheme outlined by the local provisional executive. The proposal is to conduct a campaign for ,£IO,OOO to provide an up-to-date building and equipment, the campaign to be organised under the direction of an expert, and a cardinal feature of the policy to be the opening of the building absolutely free of debt and with a general secretary’s salary guaranteed for three years.
