METHODIST CHURCH.
The anniversary services in connection with the local Methodist Sunday School were held on Sunday last. The preacher was the Rev. Mr Sharp, of Feildiug, who delivered very appropriate addresses which were listened to with marked attention by pupils and congregation. The singing was a special feature of the services and was very favourably commented upon and reflected credit upon the conductor, the Rev. Mr Mairs. Miss Honore presided at the organ. A social was held in connection with the above in the Masonic Hall last night and was well attended. A programme consisting of songs, recitations, etc., was provided by the scholars and was much appreciated. The Rev. Mr Mairs read the annual report and balancesheet which disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs. The Rev. Mr Sharp delivered one of his characteristic addresses and touched on matters both grave and gay. At a suitable juncture the Rev. Mr Mairs presented Miss Small, who is about to leave the district and who has been connected with the Sunday School both as a scholar and pupil for a period ofji6 years with handsome silver backed brush, comb and mirror, as a mark of esteem. Mr Mairs referred in eulogistic terms to the excellent qualities of the recipient and referred to the loss the school would sustain by her removal, and wished her Godspeed in the future. Miss Small feelingly responded. Refreshments were handed round by a band of willing helpers. A successful gathering closed by the singing of the Doxology.
