RIFLE CLUB.
A meeting of members and intending members of the Foxton Rifle Club was held in the Council Chamber on Thursday evening. The Mayor presided. Correspondence was read from the Defence Department, refusing to sanction the formation of a local club and it was decided to join the Himatangi club. The Foxton section will control its own finance and conduct its own competitions. Eleven members were sworn in. Mr J. Ross was elected vice-captain and Dr, Adams Secretary. It was decided that the Mayor formally open the rifle range on Wednesday next at 2.30 p.m. The Secretary will be pleased to receive names of any intending members. The subscription is 10s per annum and rifles can be supplied on easy terms. Mr M. Perreau has donated a silver cup for competition among members, besides which there will be inter-club competitions.
