A PEARLER’S ADVENTURE.
Perth, Nov. 10. A man named Andersscn, recently brought to the Sailor's Home, tells a strange story of the wreck of the pearling lugger Hugh Norman. The vessel left port, with the captain (Dundee), Anderson, and another man aboard. Shortly after, the third man, owing to trouble with the captain, jumped overboard, and swam ashore. The vessel afterwards fouled the wharf, but getting clear, put to sea, and drifted about for several days in a semi-swamped condition.
The captain, according to Anderssen, owing to the effect of drink, was unable to give much assistance. Finally the captain jumped overboard and was drowned. Anderssen, securing a lifebuoy, left the vessel, and swam ashore. He was for six days wandering in the bush and suffered great hardships before he reached a settler’s house.
