UNITED SOUTH AFRICA.
Capetown, November 7. The Duke of Connaught’s speech at the opening of Parliament expressing King George’s regret at his inability to visit South Africa, has evoked attention throughout South Africa. Newspapers unanimously acclaim the prospect of the King and Queen visiting at no distant date the principal centres of the Empire. The Duke of Connaught and party’s final function in Capetown was a visit to an industrial fair organised by the local Y.M.C.A. The Duke expressed his appreciation of the exhibition and congratulated the Association. He had an enthusiastic reception. Premier Fisher (Australia) and the Hon. Geo. Fowlds (New Zealand) have started for Kimberley. Thereafter they will visit Victoria Falls, Buluwayo, Johannesburg, Lorenzo Marques, Maritzburg, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, returning to Capetown on December 4-
Arrangements have been made at Kimberley to entertain Premier Fisher, Mr Fowlds, and the Hon. R. Lemleux (Canada) at a luncheon on their arrival tomorrow, and also to take them over the diamond fields.
