HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A very well attended meeting of the committee of the above society was held in the Council Chamber on Thursday night. Mr Alex. Speirs (President) occupied the chair. Correspondence was read and received from the judges re matters of detail. The secretary was authorised to write to the various schoolmasters asking that exhibits be forwarded on the Saturday prior to the show, in order to forward them on to Palmerston North for ajudication. It was decided to tender visiting judges their expenses. Mrs Stewart tendered her resignation in reference to taking charge of the refreshment stall and it was decided to ask her to reconsider same. Vice-Presidents are to be notified of all future committee aud general meetings. The Chairman aud Secretary were empowered to procure tressels, tubes, glasses, etc. It was decided that the president formally open the Show. Other minor matters were discussed aud the meeting rose after passing the usual compliment to the Chairman.
