UNION CELEBRATIONS.

Capetown, Oct. 26. Reuter states that Capetown is rapidly filling. People are pouring in from all parts of tne Union in anticipation of next week’s festivities. The greatest activity is being shown on every hand, in the making of final preparations. The streets are festooned and beflagged. There are numberless armorial devices, and triumphant arches have been erected in Adderley street representing each province.

The Minister and Departmental chiels have arrived from Pretoria and other centres.

MrEouis Botha, Union Premier, is receiving visitors at Cecil Rhodes’ residence, Groote Schuur, where he takes up his residence in accordance with Rhodes' will.

Dr. Jameson arrives to-morrow, and will occupy the neighbouring estate of Westbrooke.

The Government guests occupy Newlands House, formerly the Governor’s summer residence.

The Canadian representative, Mr Lemieux, and Sir Richard Solomon arrived from England yesterday. The Medic, with Mr A. Fisher, Australia’s Premier, and Mr Geo. Fowlds, New Zealands’s delegate, aboard, has just arrived at Durban. The National pageant promises to be a conspicuous success. Boers, Basutos, and bushmeu from remote districts are arriving to participate as performers, and are attracting much attention. Durban, Oct. 26.

Mr F'isher, Australia’s Premier, was welcomed by the Chief Magistrate on behalf of the Government, the Mayor and a deputation of the Eabour Party.
