THE SPANISH PREMIER.

WILL PREVENT INSANE VIOLENCE. Madrid, Oct. 19. Mr M. H. Douohoe, the Daily Chronicle correspondent, who visited Lisbon during the recent crisis, interviewed Seuor Canalejas, the Premier, who has been nick-named the “ Lloyd George of Spain.” Senor Canalejns said : “ I will answer with my head that recent events in Lisbon will not be repeated in Madrid. The Portuguese Government will be unable to rely on the army or the navy.” The Government, said the Premier, is introducing legislation to prevent labour organisations being used as the tools of fanatics and so becoming the instruments of such insane violence as has lately been witnessed in other countries.
