N.S.W. ELECTIONS.
Sydney, October 17. Mr Sutton, president of the Incensed Victuallers’ Association, claims that the great victory at the election proves that the people love liberty, and when it is endangered, speak with a large vote. He never thought for a moment they would vote otherwise than in a liberal manner. “ They won’t,” he added, “be dictated to by the Pulpit or the Press.” Canon Boyce, addressing the State Council of the New South Wales Alliance, said that while there was no important victory to chronicle, the liquor interest had been to some extent weakened by further reductions and had been unable to stay the rout, notwithstanding enormous expenditure.
