FOXTON CRICKET CLUB.
The annual general meeting ot the Foxton Cricket Club was held in Mr Perreau’s rooms last night. Mr H. S. Munro occupied the chair and there was a very satisfactory attendance of members. The Secretary in his annual report expressed regret that the past season had not been a successful one from a match-winning point, the club going through the season without a single win However, the prospects for the coming season are exceptionally bright, the number taking a keen interest in the game being much larger than has been the case for some years past. The report also made reference to the loss the club had sustained through the death of Mr L. K- Reade, who had been a member ot many years standing. The balance-sheet, showing a small debit balance, was read and adopted. There was some little discussion on the question of the means of paying for the concrete pitch. This had been put down some years ago by the local Association but up to the present had not been paid for. East year the Foxton and United Clubs decided to take over the liability, but as the latter club was now practically defunct it looked as if Foxton would have to foot the whole bill.
Mr Muuio signified his intention of donating £2 2s towards paying for the pitch, and Mr W. Nye said he would make an allowance of £1 off the cost of same. These offers were thankfully accepted. Mr Stewart pointed out that the club was well situated for material and there would be very little—if any—expenditure required in that direction.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : Patron, Mr I l '. W. Franklaud ; president, Mr O. Robinson ; vicepresidents, Messrs L)r. Mandl, T. Rimmer, F. S. Laston, H. Greig, W. F. Gray, P. Lumsdeu, H. Coley, Ji. Newman M.P., A. J. Gibbs and W. G. Richardson ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. S. Stewart; committee, Messrs F. Martin, P. T. Robinson, H. S. Munro, R. Watson, A. Preston, Love, W. K. Bullard, W. Nyeand Clingberg ; selection committee, Messrs Nye, Bullard and Martin ; delegates to the Association, Messrs Munro, Nye and Robinson. The election of captain and vice-captain was held over.
The cocoanut matting at present on the pitch is in a rather bad state and required repairing. Mr Munro kindly agreed to find the material required and Mr Preston offered to do the repairs. It was decided to open the season on the 26th instant with a scratch match on the Park pitch. Mr Munro presented a bat for the highest batting average during the coming season and Mr Stewart a ball for the best bowling average. Other minor details were arranged and the meeting terminated.
