RECENT BURGLARIES.
SUSPECTED CULPRITS ARRESTED. Greymouth September 29. In connection with the recent jewellery robbery at Lloyd’s establishment it is understood that two firemen on the s.s. Kini and Lyttelton were arrested yesterday with a portion of the missing articles on them. The Kini left Greymouth at 2.30 on the morning of the robbery. The police are reticient, but it is believed the right men have been secured. Dunedin, September 30. Detectives Mitchell and Hunt arrested last night Alfred Prior and Wm, Newton on a charge of stealing at Greymouth jewellery, valued at ,£3OO, the property of H. W. Lloyd. The detectives searched accuseds’ belongings and found a large collection of jewellery, some of which is the property ol Lloyd and some of which was stolen from Westport. Two other charges will be preferred against them. Accused recently arrived from America. They are of English birth, and only arrived in Dunedin yesterday. They were remanded till Thursday next-
