VALEDICTORY.
Townspeople and the travelling public will learn with regret that our esteemed and obliging stationmaster, Mr J. Rodie, has received notification of his transfer to head office, Wanganui. We understand that Mr Rodie will carry out the duties of relieving stationmaster for a time. Mr Rodie has been in charge of the local station and wharf for a period of seven years, during which time, by his obliging and courteous manner, he has won the respect and esteem of all with whom his duty has brought him in contact. Time and again we have heard railway patrons make very appreciative references to our stationmaster and we have no hesitation in saying that Mr Rodie is one of the most obliging officials in the service. Foxton regrets his departure and he can rest assured he carries away with him the very best wishes of the whole community. Mrs Rodie will also be missed in the social life of the town. She has cheerfully and willingly lent her assistance to any deserving object and was an active worker in the local Anglican Church and a valued member of the Dramatic Society. It is hoped that Mr and Mrs Rodie’s removal will be to their material advantage. Mr Hardwick, of Wellington, succeeds Mr Rodie.
