Whangarei, September 21. The Magistrate’s Court at Whangarei was occupied nearly all yesterday hearing a case in which the New Zealand Educational Institute proceeded on the information of the head teacher of the Mauugatapere School, against Richardson, the Chairman of thjf School Committee, charging him under Section 168 of the Education Act, with disturbing the school during teaching hours by interfering with lawful discipline and posting a notice on the school door directing scholars to defy the teacher in authority. The Magistrate, Mr Scottsmith held that defendant had discharged his duties in an improper manner, which was subversive to school discipline, and imposed a fine of jQi.
