FOR THE FAR SOUTH.

Mr C. H. Meares and Eieuteuaut W. M. Bruce arrived from Sydney by the Moana to-day with nineteen Siberian ponies aud thirty-one Russian sledge dogs. The animals are in excellent condition alter fifty days ot sea travelling. Messrs Meares and Bruce await the Terra Nova Antarctic exploring ship at Lyttelton. Mr Meares spent some months collecting the dogs in Siberia. He was joined at Vladivostok by Eieutenant Bruce.
