FOXTON LAWN TENNIS CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of the above club was held in Mr Perreau’s rooms on Tuesday evening. Mr Hornblow (vice-presi-dent) occupied the chair. The annual report was submitted by Mr Clemett, chairman of committee, in which it was stated that many improvements had been effected to the grounds, including a top-dressing to the courts ot fine sand. The trees had been felled, and a new fence was under consideration. Very little interest had been displayed in the Club’s tournaments, which were abandoned. Three matches were played with outside clubs. Financially the year had been successful. The balance-sheet showed the receipts (including credit balance of £i ß 6s id carried forward Irom last year) as ,£4B ißs 6d, aud expenditure os 3d, leaving a credit balance in hand of £22 18s 3d. The assets were set down at (balance of mortgage) The report and balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of Mr Jackson, seconded by Mr Furrie. The election ot officers were as follows: —Patron, F. W. Franklaud Esq.; President, His Worship the Mayor; vice - Presidents, Messrs O. Robinson, Alt. Fraser and J. K. Hornblow ; committee, Mesdames Stewart, Healey, Misses Wauklyn, Edwards, Hennessy, Messrs Clemett, J. Furrie, Jackson, Gabites aud McMurray ; match committee, Messrs Phillips, Fraser, and J. Furrie; delegate to N.Z. Association, Mr O’Leary (Wellington); auditor, Mr Orwin ; secretary and treasurer, Mr Phillips. Messrs McMurray aud Kellow were elected members. A vote of thanks aud appreciation of his services were passed to the secretary aud to the office bearers. It was unanimously resolved to amend Rule 9, in respect to members’ subscriptions as follows : ladies, 7s ini ; gentlemen, one guinea. A meeting of committee was held at the conclusion of the above and Mr Clemett was unanimously re-elected chairman. It was decided to open the season on the last Wednesday in September, and that the Mayor be asked to perform the formal ceremony. Permission was granted Mr Ross to erect a garage on the ground at the yearly rental of £l. Other matters in reference to suggested improvements were discussed and the meeting rose.
