IN the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and of “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1908,” and any Acts amending the same respectively. The Foxton Borough Council hereby gives public notice that it proposes to raise a special loan of £9OOO for the purchase of the Foxton Gas Works as a going concern and all plant, machinery and other appurtenances connected with it and a further £2OOO for additions to and extension of the said Gas Works, plant, machinery and appurtenances, and to make an annually-recurring special rate of 1 and 5-Bths of a penny in the pound on the unimproved value of all rateable property in the said borough of Foxton, as security for, and for the purpose of providing for the interest and sinking fund in connection with such loan. It is proposed to borrow the said moneys from the New Zealand State Guaranteed Advances Office Loans to Local Bodies Branch, if possible, and if such loan can be obtained from that source the rate of interest is expected to be 3% per cent, or a little more or less, and the whole of the loan will be repayable by halfyearly instalments extending over a period of years from the date of the said loan being advanced. It is proposed to pay out of the loan moneys the cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest of the loan during the construction of the said additions and extension to the said works.
