MR. JONSON’S TENDER.
(To the Editor). Sir, —I noticed in your last issue a letter from Mr A. Jonson, whose tender was not accepted by the Borough Council for the erection of a verandah at the poundkeeper’s cottage because he did not send a plan with his tender and the other contractors did, although they weren’t asked for one, and therefore the highest tender was accepted, and Mr Jonson’s, being the lowest, was rejected. According to Mr Jonson’s letter, he was asked to send a price for the job by “Monday, nth July, 191°. with spouting and two coats of paint.’’ Now, sir, I take it Jhat had Mr Jonson complied strictly with the Council’s request his tender must have been accepted. Your report of the Council’s meeting when dealing with this business does not say whether the successful tenderer presented himself gaily bedaubed with two coats of paint and hung with spouting ! I fear Mr Jonson has no grounds to complain on this occasion of a clean knock-out. —I am, etc,, Fair Play.
