TOWN CLERK'S REPORT.

At Monday’s meeting of the Borough Council, the Town Clerk’s report submitted was as follows : During the past month the men have been engaged in various parts of the borough ; holes in the Moutoa road have been attended to, some of which were very bad. Eighteen yards of metal were used. Holes in the Avenue road were also repaired, taking five yards of metal. The water tables and footpaths in Ravensworth Place have been put in order, and a box culvert fixed leading water from same into the Liddell street water channel; a slip in the Avenue drain, which was backing up the water, has been cleaned up. Footpaths in the following streets have beeu attended to :—■ Cook street, Robinson street, Park street, Thynne street. The 2ft. cement pipes have been placed in position at the junction of Norbiton road and Russell street, and the men are now working on the Norbiton road footpath. The Main Street crossings have been raised with limestone. The ten trucks of limestone ordered have come to hand, and it is now being screened in the Borough yard. The windmill, which got out of order, has been repaired. A start has been made in Johnston Street cutting, south end. The crossing into Purcell street has been lengthened by adding drain pipes to same, and the men are now going on with the work of widening the cutting on the east side. I propose to put In the outlet drain across Johnston street as soon as the men finish the cutting, and Norbiton road footpath ; the pipes for the drain are now waiting in the borough yard. Then proceed with the formation of Avenue road footpath north side from Park to Russell streets, fix culvert in Cook street, erect fence along Johnston street drain, mend the worst places on the roads as the metal comes to hand, and tar footpath ' south side ot Avenue road from Main to Johnston streets.—The report was adopted-
